HYUNG

Hyung means style, pattern, or form. More specifically, in martial arts a Hyung is an organized movement, which includes a series of defensive and offensive movements.

When performing a Hyung the student turns inward to himself to achieve focus and practices to develop self-discipline and timing.

A Hyung is the perfect way to practice techniques. With only one's self to consider, the student is able to concentrate on the precise performance of the technique rather than defending an actual attack.

Practice principles:

      1.       Eyes; bright, focus and following the technique.

      2.       Spirit; calm and composed.

      3.       Body; low and smooth.

      4.       Feet; precise move.

      5.       Hands; soft, agile, sharp and precise.

Keep these five principles in mind when practicing forms. Continuous practice will allow the joints, nerves, muscles and internal organs to become more youthful and flexible.
